Producer Price Growth in Bulgaria Slows to 8.1% Year-on-Year in March

Industrial producer prices in Bulgaria registered an 8.1% increase year-on-year in March, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While the overall Producer Price Index saw a 0.8% decrease compared to the preceding month, the annual rate remained 8.1% above the level recorded in March of the previous year. The NSI reported varied performance across key sectors.

Month-over-month, lower prices were observed in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas, which declined by 7.7%. Conversely, the mining industry recorded a 3.3% increase, and manufacturing rose by 2.2%. Analyzing the annual trends for March, price growth was notable in the mining sector, which rose by 40.4%.

Manufacturing prices increased by 4.9%, while the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas saw a modest annual rise of 0.8%. The data provides context regarding recent volatility. At the start of the year, industrial producer prices had climbed 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year.

In February, the upward momentum moderated, showing a 0.1% monthly increase and an 8.4% year-on-year rise in the overall producer index.
