The region is hosting several significant defense activities, including the Logistic Support 26-1 tactical-special exercise scheduled from April 27 to April 30 at the Todorovo training ground. This major military exercise is themed around the deployment of a convoy support center designed to ensure the movement of allied forces domestically. According to the Defence Ministry press service, the operation will involve personnel and equipment from units under the Logistics Support Command in Sofia and Lovech, with participation expected from up to 200 military personnel and 50 pieces of equipment.
Preparations for the exercise involve transporting personnel and military assets via the national road network on April 27 and 30, moving them from Sofia and Lovech to the Todorovo vehicle depot near Pleven in North Central Bulgaria. Simultaneously, other international military movements are scheduled. On April 27 and 28, Polish Armed Forces personnel, vehicles, and supplies will utilize the national road network to travel to Greece for the NATO Tiger Meet 2026 exercise.
Their return journey is anticipated on May 16 and 17. Furthermore, Swedish armed forces rail convoys are scheduled to pass through the country between April 28 and May 1, adding to the logistical activity. These coordinated movements underscore the regional focus on enhancing military support capabilities and interoperability among allied nations.
