The Change: We Are Very Far from Becoming One Party with Yes, Bulgaria

Nikolay Denkov, a deputy leader of Continue the Change (CC), stated that the political alignment between CC and Yes, Bulgaria remains distant from forming a single party. While acknowledging shared objectives, Denkov emphasized that the parties diverge on the methods for achieving those goals. CC, Yes, Bulgaria, and Democrats for Strong Bulgaria have functioned as coalition partners since 2023, though no formal coalition agreement is in place.

Recently, the National Council of Yes, Bulgaria adopted a resolution proposing a roadmap toward a unified political entity based on the current partnership. This proposal outlined two paths: either establishing a common party or dissolving the association. Denkov criticized these suggestions, arguing that they are overly extreme and risk limiting the political focus to only urban voters.

The deputy leader clarified that the intent is not separation, but rather the ability for the groups to collaborate while each maintains its distinct strengths. He noted that the parties have already reached an agreement regarding the nomination of a joint presidential candidate. Regarding the formation of separate parliamentary groups, Denkov stated that this decision rests with the assembled Members of Parliament.

These comments come as Ivaylo Mirchev and Bozhidar Bozhanov, co-leaders of Yes, Bulgaria, reaffirmed their stance that the electorate in Bulgaria expects a more consolidated political project. Despite the differing views on structure, the discussions highlight the ongoing efforts to consolidate the political landscape involving Yes, Bulgaria, and the broader goals of change within the country.
