Three days of commemorations marking the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising commenced on Thursday at the Memorial House Theatre in Panagyurishte with the “150 Greetings from Around the World” initiative. This event featured video messages contributed by children and youth from various parts of the globe. Following the greetings, a theatrical performance based on Stefan Tsanev’s Children of the World was presented.
During his address, Panagyurishte Mayor Zhelyazko Gagov acknowledged the attendees for their commitment to preserving historical memory. He stated that their presence demonstrated a connection to something larger than themselves, specifically Bulgaria. Notable attendees included BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) Director General Milen Mitev, Prof.
Georgi Valchev, Rector of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, and journalist Boyko Vassilev, known for his work on Bulgarian National Television’s Panorama talk-show. Earlier in the day, participants attended a conference regarding the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising, organized by BTA and held at the Panagyurishte History Museum. The commemorative activities are scheduled to continue with a 150th Flamesshow at the 20 April Square in Panagyurishte.
