Eastern therapies and traditional hammam rituals are generating significant guest interest at the Astor Garden Hotel in Sts. Constantine and Helena, according to SPA Manager Nikolay Popov. The hotel operates in conjunction with the Aqua House Thermal & Beach complex, which continuously updates its services to enhance the visitor experience and meet the diverse expectations of modern tourists.
Popov noted that the complex provides numerous avenues for improving both physical and mental well-being. Beyond specialized packages and various beauty treatments, guests can utilize multiple pools, including facilities designed for lap swimming. While massage programs require careful consideration for clients recovering from cosmetic or invasive procedures, high humidity and steam environments, such as those found in a hammam, are generally unsuitable in these cases.
Nevertheless, certain approaches rooted in Chinese medicine may remain appropriate. Aromatherapy remains a highly sought-after treatment due to its immediate effects, often being combined with other services. Additionally, mud therapy is available, and management is considering incorporating algae-based treatments given the natural availability of seaweed and its associated health benefits.
BTA highlights the breadth of wellness options within Bulgaria through its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam” feature, which covers over 200 certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centers. This initiative is linked to the major health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, scheduled for May 11–13, 2026, across several key Bulgarian locations. BTA will serve as the event’s primary media partner.
