Two of President Iotova’s Armenia Visit for European Political Community Summit

Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova is continuing her visit to Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday. During her visit, the president is scheduled to participate in a high-level event focusing on the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative aims to enhance energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.

In her forum address, President Iotova plans to address themes of transport and energy connectivity throughout Europe. Her schedule also includes participation in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs.” On the sidelines of the main summit, she is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The Summit is being co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The visit has seen significant bilateral engagement. On Sunday, President Iotova and Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. During that meeting, President Iotova and her counterpart discussed methods to strengthen cooperation between the two nations, with the president emphasizing the role of the European Political Community in fostering broader connectivity.

Furthermore, President Iotova visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan. The discussions between the two presidents highlighted mutual interests in bolstering regional ties, while the focus on the energy infrastructure, particularly the gas corridor, underscores the geopolitical importance of the region for European stability.
