Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova remains in Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday, according to the President’s press secretariat. President Iotova is scheduled to participate in a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This corridor represents a strategic effort designed to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies throughout Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During her participation in the forum, President Iotova intends to focus her remarks on enhancing transport and energy connectivity across Europe. Her itinerary also includes attendance at an event called the “European Coalition Against Drugs” as part of the Summit proceedings. On the sidelines, the president is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Summit is jointly chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as reported by EU institutions. Previously, on Sunday, President Iotova and Prime Minister Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. Additionally, President Iotova visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the notable Bulgarian poet.
During these engagements, President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, discussed methods to deepen bilateral cooperation. President Iotova emphasized the role of the European Political Community in improving connectivity and nurturing relationships across the continent.
