Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova continues her visit to Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, commencing in Yerevan on Monday. The President is scheduled to participate in a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative seeks to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During her address at the forum, President Iotova plans to focus on improving transport and energy connectivity throughout Europe. Additionally, she will take part in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs” as part of the Summit agenda. On the sidelines, the President is slated to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Summit is jointly chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, according to official sources from EU institutions. On Sunday, President Iotova and Prime Minister Pashinyan formalized a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. During her visit, President Iotova also visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the notable Bulgarian poet.
Furthermore, President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, discussed methods to strengthen bilateral cooperation. President Iotova emphasized the critical role of the European Political Community in enhancing connectivity and fostering broader relations across the continent.
