Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova is continuing her official visit to Armenia to participate in the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan. A central focus of President Iotova’s participation is a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative is designed to enhance energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.

During her address at the forum, President Iotova is scheduled to emphasize the importance of transport and energy connectivity throughout Europe. In addition to the energy discussions, the President will also take part in an event titled the “European Coalition Against Drugs.” On the sidelines of the main summit proceedings, she is scheduled to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The Summit is being co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The diplomatic engagements have been active, as on Sunday, President Iotova and Prime Minister Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. During this visit, President Iotova also toured the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan. Discussions between President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, focused on methods to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Throughout her visit, President Iotova has consistently highlighted the crucial role of the European Political Community in fostering broader connectivity and strengthening relationships across the continent.
