Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova is currently in Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday. During her participation, President Iotova is scheduled to address the critical topic of the Vertical Gas Corridor and its implications for regional energy security. This strategic initiative is designed to enhance and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
At the forum, the president will specifically address the importance of transport and energy connectivity throughout the European continent. In addition to her energy focus, she will also participate in the “European Coalition Against Drugs” event as part of the Summit agenda. On the sidelines, she is slated to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Summit itself is co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The diplomatic engagement continued on Sunday when President Iotova and Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on a Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. Furthermore, President Iotova visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the notable Bulgarian poet.
During bilateral discussions, President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, reviewed methods to strengthen cooperation between the two nations. Throughout her visit, President Iotova underscored the vital role the European Political Community plays in fostering enhanced connectivity and robust relations across Europe.
