Dubrovnik is currently hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit. The event has drawn a Bulgarian delegation, led by Ambassador to Croatia Iva Kruleva, which includes representatives from Bulgarian small and medium-sized enterprises and companies. Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic confirmed the city’s readiness for the summit, noting that special traffic regulations have been implemented.
With the tourist season underway, the city anticipates significant arrivals, not only of tourists but also of aircraft carrying summit attendees. Police are managing traffic flow during the arrival of various delegations and have advised residents regarding potential congestion. The expected presence of high-ranking officials is also drawing international media coverage.
The 3SI serves as a forum for political and economic cooperation among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas: Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Key strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the US, Japan, Spain, and Turkiye, while Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro are associate members. The initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure.
The 2026 edition, hosted by Croatia, will focus on regional resilience and digital transformation, linking the 3SI countries to global corridors such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator for the 3SI, noted the effort to boost North-South connectivity. She stated that the summit brings together leaders from 45 countries, highlighting the scope beyond a purely regional or European focus.
Among the political participants are heads of state and government from several nations, alongside other high-profile attendees.
