Welcomes Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit

Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, which commenced on Tuesday. A Bulgarian delegation, led by Ambassador to Croatia Iva Kruleva, is among the attendees, including representatives from Bulgarian SMEs and companies. Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic confirmed the city’s readiness for the event, noting that special traffic regulations have been implemented.

The city is managing increased activity due to the ongoing tourist season, with Dubrovnik Airport anticipating arrivals not only of tourists but also of aircraft carrying summit participants. Police have been mobilized to manage traffic flow, and residents have been asked to exercise patience regarding potential congestion. The expected presence of numerous high-ranking officials is also anticipated to draw leading international media coverage.

The 3SI serves as a forum for political and economic cooperation among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas: Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the United States, Japan, Spain, and Turkiye, while Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro are associate members. The initiative’s objective is to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure.

Launched in 2016, the 3SI aims to bolster regional resilience. Croatia’s national coordinator, Romana Vlahutin, noted that the summit brings together global business leaders alongside European heads of state and government. The event is expected to draw participation from 45 countries, positioning it as a broader global gathering.

Among the political guests are leaders from Austria, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Montenegro, Czechia, and Ukraine.
