World Dance Collective to Perform in Munich Festival

The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, taking place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. During this event, the ensemble will debut a mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War,” according to artistic director Teodosi Teodosiev, who founded the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective. Teodosiev stated that the performance represents more than mere dance; he described it as a reconnection to heritage, strength, and identity, regardless of global location.

He acknowledged the invitation extended to the collective by the Lazarka ensemble, and the festival’s artistic director and organizer for this year, Plamen Petkov. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the group and thanked all the dancers for their dedication, noting that the Bulgarian spirit transcends borders. The festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria.

The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the inaugural event in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th edition in Munich this May, organizers anticipate the participation of over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups.
