The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. The ensemble plans to debut its mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War.”
Teodosi Teodosiev, the founder of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective, stated that the performance represents more than just choreographed movement; he described it as a reaffirmation of cultural roots and resilience.
Teodosiev acknowledged the invitation to Munich, extended by the Lazarka ensemble, and expressed gratitude to the organizers for their confidence in the group. He emphasized the enduring nature of the Bulgarian spirit across international borders. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to supporting amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria.
The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th iteration in Munich, organizers anticipate the participation of over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance exceeding 4,000 guests. The festival serves as a significant platform for showcasing global cultural heritage through dance.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event, providing coverage for all participating groups. This international gathering highlights the depth and breadth of world cultural exchange through traditional and contemporary dance forms.
