Killed, 14 Injured in Drone Attack in Odesa

An overnight drone attack occurred in the Black Sea city of Odesa, Southern Ukraine, resulting in two fatalities and fourteen injuries, according to Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service evacuated 36 residents from the affected areas, including two children. The consequences of the incident were widespread.

Residential areas sustained significant damage, with at least three buildings reported to have suffered substantial harm, including destroyed facades and shattered windows. Additionally, a merchant ship flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, which was en route to a port in Greater Odesa, was impacted. A fire broke out aboard the vessel but was reportedly extinguished quickly by the crew, with no casualties reported from the ship.

Authorities confirmed that relevant services are currently working to manage the aftermath of the overnight assault. While the immediate focus remains on the damage and casualties from the attack, the region has a diverse population. Historically, the Odesa Region has included a substantial Bulgarian community, with an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians residing specifically in the city of Odesa.

However, the primary reporting concerns the casualties and structural damage sustained during the recent hostile action in Odesa.
