Macedonia’s President Congratulates Rumen Radev on Election Victory

The President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, offered congratulations to Rumen Radev following his victory in the April 19 parliamentary elections in Bulgaria. Speaking after attending the Conference of Presidents and Speakers of Parliaments of the Adriatic & Ionian Initiative in Skopje, Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized the necessity of a regional approach. She reaffirmed that North Macedonia remains committed to developing “friendly and constructive relations” and promoting mutual understanding regarding the need for European Union enlargement.

Addressing reporters, the President stated that she had contacted Radev after the election results and subsequently received a call from him. “I wished him success and said I believe that such strong support is a guarantee of stability,” she reported. She added that Bulgarian citizens likely view him as a stabilizing figure for the nation, which she suggested could facilitate his efforts to form a government and implement his platform.

Siljanovska-Davkova concluded by expressing her anticipation of scheduling a meeting. Earlier, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski also congratulated Radev on the victory, stressing the importance of dialogue and maintaining positive neighborly relations.
