Petar Zahov, General Manager of the Katarino SPA Hotel in Razlog, reported notable visitor interest originating from several international markets, including Israel, Greece, Romania, and North Macedonia. While the hotel’s primary clientele remains Bulgarian, Zahov indicated that demand from abroad is also evident. He attributed this to sustained regional demand and established brand recognition across the Balkans and the Middle East.
The Katarino SPA Hotel recently secured the top spot among Bulgaria’s top ten five-star mountain hotels for 2025, marking the second consecutive year of such recognition. This ranking is based on the HotScore™ index, which assesses guest reviews from over 1,200 hotels nationwide. The hotel has received numerous accolades in recent years, including awards for best spa hotel and eco-friendliness.
The hotel’s spa center provides extensive thermal and relaxation facilities, all complimentary for guests. Amenities include indoor and outdoor pools heated to approximately 34°C, a cave-style jacuzzi, a salt room, and various saunas (Finnish, Kiva, and infrared). Additional features encompass an aroma and panoramic steam bath, laconium, adventure showers, a tepidarium, and a panoramic relaxation area.
Beyond facilities, treatments are available focusing on complete wellness, recovery, and preventive care. Services range from hydrotherapy options, such as flotation and Cleopatra baths, to deep-tissue and hot stone massages. The hotel tailors programs for different needs, including stress management, family visits, and general wellness.
Zahov mentioned that the spa area continues to enhance its offerings, exemplified by a new outdoor pool and infinity jacuzzi built in 2023. Furthermore, BTA is featuring certified spa and wellness centers in Bulgaria through its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam” initiative. This effort, partnered with the Ministry of Tourism, is in connection with the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT in 2026, where BTA will serve as the main media partner.
