The Chemshir Bulgarian Folklore Club, based in Armagh, northern Ireland, is scheduled to perform at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival in Munich, Germany, from May 15 to 17. The club will collaborate with the Detelini Dance Folklore Ensemble from Athens for the event. The performance is set to feature dancers representing multiple nations, including Greece, northern Ireland, Cyprus, and the USA.
Plamena Chemshirova, the dance group leader, stated that this collaboration is significant as a representation of the global connection of Bulgarians through dance. The group plans to present a Thracian dance originating from the Pazardzhik Region. According to Chemshirova, the choreography narrates themes of young love, the strength of friendship, and the inherent magic of the Bulgarian horo, which she described as a connection to love.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the inaugural event in 2015 and is slated to host the tenth edition in 2025. Organizers anticipate attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests at the 11th edition in Munich.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups.
