’s Annual Inflation Rises to 6.2% in April, Highest in Eurozone

Preliminary data from Eurostat indicates that Bulgaria’s annual inflation reached 6.2% in April 2026, representing the highest rate among Euro area countries. Concurrently, inflation across the Eurozone is projected to rise for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 3.0% in April, up from 2.6% in March. Among the Euro area members, which Bulgaria joined on January 1, 2026, Lithuania recorded the highest annual inflation rate at 4.9%, followed by Greece (4.6%), Belgium (4.3%), and Slovakia (4.0%).

Conversely, Finland (2.3%), Malta (2.4%), and the Netherlands and France (all at 2.5%) reported the lowest rates. Examining the components of inflation for the Euro area in April, energy is anticipated to show the largest annual increase, climbing to 10.9% from 5.1% in March. Other key components include services (3.0% versus 3.2% in March), food, alcohol, and tobacco (2.5% compared to 2.4%), and non-energy industrial goods (0.8% versus 0.7%).

In a separate report, Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute issued a flash estimate detailing that monthly inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index, is expected to hit 2.0% in April. Furthermore, the NSI data projects the annual inflation rate for Bulgaria at 7.1% for April 2026.
