Three-day commemorations marking the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising commenced on Thursday at the Memorial House Theatre in Panagyurishte with the “150 Greetings from Around the World” initiative. This event featured video messages from children and youth from various parts of the globe. Following the greetings, a theatrical performance was staged, drawing inspiration from Stefan Tsanev’s “Children of the World.”

During his speech, Panagyurishte Mayor Zhelyazko Gagov expressed gratitude to the attendees for their commitment to preserving historical memory.

He stated that the participation underscored a shared connection to something larger than the individual: Bulgaria. Notable attendees included Kiril Valchev, Director General of BTA, Milen Mitev, Director General of Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), Prof. Georgi Valchev, Rector of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, and Boyko Vassilev, journalist and presenter on Bulgarian National Television’s Panorama.

Earlier in the day, participants attended a conference concerning the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising. This event was organized by BTA and hosted by the Panagyurishte History Museum. The commemorative activities in Panagyurishte are ongoing, with the celebrations scheduled to continue with a “150 Flamesshow” at the 20 April Square.
