Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova’s visit to Armenia continues for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, commencing in Yerevan on Monday, according to the President’s press secretariat. A key focus of President Iotova’s participation will be a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This corridor represents a strategic effort designed to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies throughout Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During her forum address, President Iotova is slated to concentrate on improving transport and energy connectivity across Europe. Her schedule also includes participation in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs” as part of the Summit proceedings. On the sidelines, she is scheduled to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Summit is jointly chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as confirmed by EU institutions. Previously, on Sunday, President Iotova and Mr. Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia.
Additionally, President Iotova visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan. During bilateral discussions with her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, the Bulgarian president and the Armenian President discussed methods to enhance cooperation between the two nations. President Iotova emphasized the critical role of the European Political Community in advancing connectivity and strengthening relations across the continent, particularly concerning energy infrastructure like the gas corridor.
