Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova’s visit to Armenia continues for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday. The President’s press secretariat confirmed her participation in a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative is designed to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies throughout Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During her address at the forum, President Iotova is slated to concentrate on European transport and energy connectivity. Her schedule also includes participation in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs” as part of the Summit proceedings. Additionally, she is scheduled to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas on the sidelines of the forum.
The Summit is co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, according to EU institutional reports. Previously, on Sunday, President Iotova and Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. During her visit, President Iotova also visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the notable Bulgarian poet.
The President held discussions with her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, regarding methods to strengthen bilateral cooperation. President Iotova emphasized the significance of the European Political Community in improving connectivity and advancing relations across Europe.
