-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event is set to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. Regarding their performance, Sovatchii’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, stated that the group will present a “камерна formation.” This performance will feature a segment from “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” a work choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, described as having a powerful emotional impact and strong stage presence.

Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who continues to serve as both the artistic director and choreographer. Over the years, the group has become recognized for organizing major annual festivals within Cyprus. Their core mission involves bringing together Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians from various age groups.

The festival itself is dedicated to amateur folk ensembles performing internationally, serving as a platform for groups outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was pioneered by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural 2015 edition and the tenth edition in 2025. This 11th iteration in Munich is expected to host over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance exceeding 4,000 guests.

The BTA (Bulgarian News Agency) is serving as the official media partner for the event, providing coverage for all participating groups, including the Cypriot-based Sovatchii.
