-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform a piece titled “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria.” This performance, choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, is noted for its strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact.

Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as both the artistic director and choreographer. The group has become actively involved in organizing major annual festivals within Cyprus, with a primary focus on uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside musicians and singers spanning various age groups. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria.

The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. The 11th festival in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage for all participating groups.
