The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, the Sovatchii formation will perform as a kamernna ensemble.
Their performance will feature a segment of “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, a piece described as having a strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. The Sovatchii folk formation was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who also serves as its artistic director and choreographer. He noted that the group has become an active organizer of significant annual festivals within Cyprus, focusing on uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians spanning various age groups.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participants.
