-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to May 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform as a камерна formation.

Their presentation will feature a segment of “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” a piece choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, which Teodosiev described as having a strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. The Sovatchii folk formation was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as its artistic director and choreographer. Over the years, the group has become an active organizer of major annual festivals within Cyprus.

Its core mission involves uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians from various age groups. The festival itself is designed for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.

For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance exceeding 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event, responsible for presenting all participating groups.
