Outdoor thermal soaking pools filled with hot mineral water represent a key feature of the Ismena SPA Complex, according to its manager, Polina Boneva. These open-air mineral soaking pools are noted as the first of their kind in Devin, operating year-round and drawing significant visitor interest. The complex functions as a four-season destination, integrating modern architecture with the style of traditional Rhodope Revival houses.
It utilizes healing mineral water sourced from the Bedenski spring across its array of spa pools and revitalization treatments. While Bulgarian tourists form the largest segment of guests, international visitors originate mainly from Germany, Israel, Russia, and the United Kingdom. Guests are primarily drawn to the water-based therapies for recovery and relaxation.
The mineral water’s alkaline properties are stated to help cleanse the skin, stimulate regeneration, and support detoxification. Treatments and immersion in the mineral water are particularly recommended for individuals with sedentary occupations or past injuries, as the heat and mineral composition are reported to relax muscles and improve mobility without placing undue strain on the heart. Spanning 17 decares, the Ismena complex includes a hotel section, fifteen guest houses, and landscaped park areas.
The spa center is equipped with indoor and outdoor pools, alongside amenities such as a sauna, steam bath, Finnish sauna, jacuzzi, and aromatic baths. Additionally, guests can undergo contrast therapy in a 5°C shock pool—a refreshing experience noted to improve circulation after sauna use. The spa menu also offers restorative options like volcanic stone massage and magnesium massage
