& Caravaning Expo 2026 Opens with Nearly 100 Exhibitors

The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 opened on Friday and will continue through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this event marks the 12th annual gathering, having debuted in 2018. This year, 99 exhibitors from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany are participating, with expectations of attracting over 12,000 visitors.

The expo showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and camping gear, alongside water sports and cycling products. According to Camping.BG founder Veselin Valev, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. Valev noted that equipment prices vary significantly, ranging from modest costs to very high-end models.

He differentiated between vehicle types, explaining that campers are suitable for varied travel, while caravans are better for extended stays in one location. Valev also advised newcomers to utilize regulated campgrounds, as these facilities provide essential amenities lacking in wild camping. While Bulgaria has over 200 campsites, he pointed out that infrastructure, particularly quality roads connecting campsites to attractions, remains a key area for development to boost tourism.

The expo offers educational sessions covering topics such as converting vans into campervans, solar power, and responsible travel. On Sunday, the focus is on responsible camping, a cause promoted in partnership with the For the Earth environmental association. The event provides attendees with practical advice and opportunities to engage in ecological activities promoting sustainable travel throughout the duration of the expo.
