Centre at Azalia Hotel in Sts Constantine and Helena Resort Attracts Growing Interest from Dutch, Polish Guests

According to spa manager Nikolay Popov, the spa facility at the Azalia Hotel in the Sts Constantine and Helena resort is seeing increased patronage from international guests, particularly from the Netherlands and Poland. Popov attributes this success to the centre’s utilization of natural healing resources, which include mineral water combined with seawater, lye, and healing mud. He also noted the high satisfaction guests express regarding the extensive experience of the on-site specialists.

Balneological therapies are particularly popular among individuals over 60, with common treatments addressing musculoskeletal issues, neurodegenerative diseases, herniated discs, and lower back pain—conditions affecting nearly three-quarters of older adults. Lyubomir Stamboliyski, Commercial Director at Sts Constantine & Helena Holding AD, cited a broader trend of increased health consciousness among younger populations since the pandemic. He anticipates this will drive continued growth in the spa and wellness tourism sector, noting that the average age seeking rehabilitation is declining from around 40–45 to approximately 28–31.

The services offered by the company’s centre are evolving beyond standard packages toward individualized protocols mirroring medical practices. Instead of fixed procedures, clients now receive comprehensive programs that extend beyond the visit, encompassing guidance on diet, physical activity, and the use of supplements. To develop these protocols, the company partners with physicians across the country, allowing for virtual consultations.

The resort continues to attract visitors from Germany and the Czech Republic, reflecting a growing interest in medical and spa tourism across the Balkans. BTA highlights this regional growth through its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam” feature, which covers over 200 certified facilities.
