Centre at Azalia Hotel in Sts Constantine and Helena Resort Attracts Growing Interest from Dutch, Polish Guests

Spa facilities at the Azalia Hotel in the Sts Constantine and Helena resort are seeing increased patronage from international guests, including those from the Netherlands and Poland, according to spa manager Nikolay Popov. Popov attributes this popularity to the centre’s utilization of natural healing resources, such as mineral water combined with seawater, lye, and healing mud. He also noted high guest satisfaction with the experienced specialists available.

Balneological therapies are particularly favored by individuals over 60, who most frequently seek treatment for musculoskeletal issues, lower back pain, herniated discs, and neurodegenerative diseases—conditions affecting nearly three-quarters of older adults. Complementing this, Lyubomir Stamboliyski, Commercial Director at Sts Constantine & Helena Holding AD, highlighted a broader trend: an increased health focus among younger demographics. He suggests this shift will drive growth in wellness tourism, noting the average age seeking rehabilitation services has dropped from 40–45 to approximately 28–31.

Stamboliyski also described an evolution in services, moving from fixed packages to customized protocols similar to medical regimens. These programs guide clients on diet, physical activity, and supplements, extending care beyond the spa visit. To support these protocols, the company partners with external physicians nationwide, allowing for online consultations.

The resort continues to attract visitors from Germany and the Czech Republic, alongside growing interest from the Balkan region in medical and spa tourism. Furthermore, BTA promotes Bulgarian spa and wellness centres through its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam” feature. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, is linked to the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT in Varna in 2026.
