Centre at Azalia Hotel in Sts Constantine and Helena Resort Attracts Growing Interest from Dutch, Polish Guests

The spa centre at the Azalia Hotel in the Sts Constantine and Helena resort is seeing increased patronage from international guests, particularly from the Netherlands and Poland, according to spa manager Nikolay Popov. Popov attributes this interest to the centre’s utilization of natural healing resources, including mineral water combined with seawater, lye, and healing mud. He also noted high guest satisfaction with the experienced specialists available.

While balneological therapies are popular among individuals over 60, addressing common issues like musculoskeletal problems and lower back pain, the market is shifting. Lyubomir Stamboliyski, Commercial Director at Sts Constantine & Helena Holding AD, observed a growing focus on health among younger demographics since the pandemic. He noted that the average age seeking rehabilitation services is declining from 40–45 to approximately 28–31.

The service offerings are also evolving beyond fixed packages. The company now provides personalized protocols—including guidance on diet, physical activity, and supplements—that clients can continue after leaving the azalia facility. These protocols integrate specialized treatments with medical consultation, often utilizing external physicians across the country.

The resort continues to attract visitors from Germany and the Czech Republic, signaling a rising interest in medical and spa tourism across the Balkans. To support this growth, BTA is promoting Bulgaria’s spa and wellness sector through its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam” feature, an initiative linked to the 2026 HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT. These efforts underscore a developing trend toward comprehensive, preventative health care in the region.
