Centre at Azalia Hotel in Sts Constantine and Helena Resort Attracts Growing Interest from Dutch, Polish Guests

Spa manager Nikolay Popov reports an increasing number of international guests visiting the spa centre at the Azalia Hotel in the Sts Constantine and Helena resort, noting a particular influx from the Netherlands and Poland. Popov attributes this success to the centre’s utilization of natural healing resources, which include mineral water combined with seawater, lye, and healing mud. He also highlighted the high satisfaction levels reported by patrons regarding the extensive experience of the specialists.

While balneological therapies remain popular with those over 60, addressing common ailments like musculoskeletal issues and lower back pain, broader trends are reshaping the market. Lyubomir Stamboliyski, Commercial Director at Sts Constantine & Helena Holding AD, noted that post-pandemic, wellness tourism has seen a shift in demographics. He stated that the average age seeking rehabilitation services is declining, now ranging from approximately 28 to 31 years old, compared to previous figures.

Consequently, the service offerings are evolving beyond set packages. The company now develops individualized protocols—incorporating thermal water, mud, or specialized equipment—that clients can continue at home. These comprehensive plans also include guidance on diet, physical activity, and the use of supplements.

The resort continues to attract visitors from Germany and the Czech Republic, signaling growing interest in medical and spa tourism across the Balkans. This industry growth is further supported by initiatives like BTA’s BG SPA: Salus per aquam, which showcases over 200 certified wellness and medical spa centres in Bulgaria.
