He attributes this interest to the facility’s utilization of natural healing resources, including mineral water combined with seawater, lye, and healing mud. Popov noted that guests are highly satisfied with the specialized staff, who possess extensive experience.
Balneological therapies are especially popular among individuals over 60, with common treatments addressing musculoskeletal issues, herniated discs, and lower back pain—conditions affecting nearly three-quarters of older adults. Lyubomir Stamboliyski, Commercial Director at Sts Constantine & Helena Holding AD, highlighted a broader trend: since the pandemic, younger demographics have shown increased focus on wellness. He stated that the average age seeking rehabilitation services is declining, shifting from approximately 40–45 to 28–31.
Stamboliyski also detailed how the company’s offerings are evolving from fixed packages to individualized protocols, mirroring medical practices. These programs extend beyond local treatments—such as those using thermal water or mud—to include guidance on diet, physical activity, and the use of supplements. To support these protocols, the company partners with physicians nationwide, allowing for remote consultations.
The Sts Constantine and Helena resort continues to attract visitors from Germany and the Czech Republic, signaling growing interest in medical and spa tourism across the Balkans. Furthermore, BTA is promoting Bulgarian wellness through its BG SPA: Salus per aquam feature, linking the sector to the major HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT in 2026.
