Chair Says His Party Will Be “Nation’s Conscience” in New Parliament

During the inaugural session of the 52nd National Assembly on Thursday, Vazrazhdane Chair Kostadin Kostadinov addressed the parliamentary body. Speaking from the rostrum, Kostadinov stated that his party intends to function as “the nation’s conscience,” clarifying that his message was directed specifically to the Bulgarian populace. He asserted that the party would remain committed to speaking what he described as the truth, while simultaneously offering concrete solutions to national issues.

A central focus of Kostadinov’s address was the economic policy concerning the Bulgarian currency. Vazrazhdane emphasized the necessity of reinstating the Bulgarian lev. Kostadinov attributed the current state’s excessive debt to the decision to join the eurozone, which he characterized as a forced integration.

Throughout his remarks, the chair maintained a position of opposition, outlining several key areas where his party believes government policy has fallen short of national interest. His statements positioned Vazrazhdane as a critical voice within the political landscape. The core message conveyed was a call for a re-evaluation of the economic trajectory, suggesting that the nation requires a return to policies that prioritize national currency autonomy over existing international monetary agreements.
