-Day Marking of April Uprising Launched in Panagyurishte with 150 Greetings from Around the World Initiative

Three-day commemorations marking the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising commenced in Panagyurishte on Thursday. The festivities began with the “150 Greetings from Around the World” initiative, featuring video messages from children and youth globally. This was followed by a staged theatrical performance based on Stefan Tsanev’s work, Children of the World.

During his address, Panagyurishte Mayor Zhelyazko Gagov acknowledged the attendees for their commitment to historical memory, stating that their presence demonstrated a shared connection to a larger entity: Bulgaria. Dignitaries present included BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) Director General Milen Mitev, Prof. Georgi Valchev, Rector of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, and journalist Boyko Vassilev.

Earlier in the day, participants attended a conference hosted by the Panagyurishte History Museum and organized by BTA, focusing on the 150th anniversary of the Uprising. The celebrations are scheduled to continue with a large-scale flame show at the 20 April Square in Panagyurishte. The events underscore a global acknowledgment of this significant historical milestone, drawing participation from across the world.
