Folklore Group Chilnovski Babi to Participate in Munich Festival

The authentic folklore group Chilnovski Babi, hailing from the village of Chilnov in Bulgaria’s Ruse Region, is set to participate in the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival. The event will take place from May 15 to May 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Stefka Atanasova, Chilnovski Babi will perform two songs: “Libe le, libe hubavo” and “Song for Bulgaria.” Atanasova noted that preparations for the festival are proceeding with great energy, especially as the ensemble recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

She stated that the group, composed entirely of Bulgarian women from diverse ethnic backgrounds, aims to bring joy and honor their homeland’s traditions through song and dance. The group’s history began in March 1986 in Chilnov. Atanasova recounted that the founding members gathered with a shared passion for Bulgarian culture.

Since then, the group has dedicated itself to showcasing their native heritage in both Bulgarian villages and internationally. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was started by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France.

The 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event.
