Industries Bulgaria Receives Investor of the Year Award

BTL Industries Bulgaria was named Investor of the Year 2025 at the 20th annual awards ceremony organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA). During the official event at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award and the “Golden Bull” statuette to the company’s CEO, Veselin Karavasilev. The recognition was given for a significant investment of EUR 51 million in the southern city of Plovdiv in 2025, which resulted in the creation of over 700 jobs within the medical device sectors.

BTL Industries Bulgaria has maintained a presence in the Bulgarian market since 1998 and operates a research and development center in Sofia. With a workforce exceeding 850 employees, the company is a major employer in the Plovdiv region and exports its medical devices to over 120 countries across six continents. Karavasilev noted that the award recognized not only the investment size but also the company’s sustained commitment to Bulgaria.

He stated that the company’s journey, which began with a sales office in 1998, has led to it becoming BTL’s sole global production base, shipping over 40,000 devices annually from Bulgaria. Other major recipients at the ceremony included Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria, which received the Greenfield Investment award for a EUR 42 million investment in Parvomay, creating over 170 jobs. Nestle Bulgaria was honored with the Business Expansion Investment award for a EUR 44.63 million investment in Sofia and 119 new jobs.

Festo Bulgaria received the Innovative Business award for a EUR 40 million investment across several Bulgarian locations, generating 140 jobs. The Investor of the Year initiative highlights companies and projects contributing to Bulgaria’s economic growth, job creation, and innovation. The ceremony also included recognition for outstanding contributions to regional development and sustainable business practices across various industries.
