A multimedia language classroom dedicated to the study of Bulgarian is scheduled to open on May 2 in Tatarbunary, Ukraine, according to Svetoslav Ivanov, Consul General of Bulgaria in Odesa. This initiative is supported by the Bulgarian government and falls under a broader program designed to assist Bulgarian communities in several countries, including Ukraine. 224 of October 30, 2025. The primary goal of establishing this modern classroom is to preserve and develop Bulgarian culture and linguistic identity by incorporating contemporary teaching methodologies. Furthermore, the project aims to encourage students of Bulgarian origin to acquire knowledge and maintain historical connections with their ancestral homeland.
The support is noted as particularly vital given that the school operates within a mixed-population area. The Bulgarian Sunday School Balgarche was initially established in 2014 by the Tatarbunary Bulgarian Cultural and Educational Society Rodolyubie. The institution has since expanded, opening three additional branches in 2016–2017.
Beyond formal language instruction, the school offers workshops covering folk dance, traditional instruments, singing, and applied folk arts. Currently, the school supports 341 students in extracurricular activities, overseen by 45 teachers. The Balgarche is a member of the World Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad.
