13 Elected MP Candidates Must Pick Constituency on Friday

The Central Election Commission has issued a directive requiring thirteen specific candidates who were successfully elected in two separate electoral districts to formally declare which constituency they intend to represent in the upcoming 52nd National Assembly. This decision must be finalized by the end of the week. The recent early parliamentary elections, held in April 19, saw a high level of participation, with a total of 1,019 candidates running across the two electoral districts—reaching the maximum permissible number.

Among the numerous successful candidates, the thirteen individuals in question include prominent figures from the major political coalitions and parties that secured seats in the new legislature. The group of elected representatives includes Rumen Radev, representing Progressive Bulgaria; Boyko Borissov, associated with GERB-UDF; Assen Vassilev and Nikolay Denkov, who belong to the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria bloc; Delyan Peevski of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms; and Kostadin Kostadinov of Vazrazhdane. The procedural requirement for these thirteen elected members underscores a necessary administrative step to solidify the legislative composition.

By choosing a single constituency, these political figures will determine their official base of representation within the newly formed parliamentary body. This directive aims to streamline the organizational structure as the nation prepares for the convening of the 52nd National Assembly.
