North Macedonia’s President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova congratulated Rumen Radev following his victory in the April 19 parliamentary elections. She conveyed wishes for his success and emphasized the necessity of a regional approach. The President stated that Macedonia remains committed to developing “friendly and constructive relations” and promoting mutual understanding regarding the need for European Union enlargement.
Speaking to reporters after attending the Conference of Presidents and Speakers of Parliaments of the Adriatic & Ionian Initiative in Skopje, Siljanovska-Davkova mentioned that she had messaged Radev post-election and subsequently received a call from him. She stated, “I wished him success and said I believe that such strong support is a guarantee of stability.” She added that “Bulgarian citizens likely see him as a stabilizing figure for the country and the nation,” suggesting this might facilitate the formation of a government and the execution of his agenda. The President concluded by noting her anticipation of arranging a meeting.
Separately, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski also offered congratulations to Radev on his victory, stressing the importance of dialogue and positive neighborly relations. In Macedonia, the discussion surrounding the Bulgarian election results has largely centered on the potential impact on Bulgaria’s stance regarding the country’s trajectory toward EU membership.
