The Nessebar municipality has announced comprehensive plans for a series of events marking the commencement of the Giro d’Italia 2026 on May 8. According to the municipality’s press centre, a detailed cultural and sporting programme has been organized to engage residents and visitors leading up to the major cycling event. The festivities are scheduled to begin on May 7.
The day’s activities will commence with a bazaar set up in Mesambria Square, followed by an amateur cycling tour through the seaside town starting at 10:00 a.m. As evening approaches, the planned entertainment includes performances by various groups at the Yana Laskova National Community Centre. The cultural programme will continue with concerts featuring the trio VIVA and the rock group B.T.R., held in the historic area near the Old Town fortress walls.
The day will conclude with a fireworks display organized by the municipality. On May 8, coinciding with the official start of the Giro d’Italia, the municipality will also host a cross-country race utilizing the established race route. These preparations highlight the local commitment to celebrating the international sporting event.
