The top distinction for the 2025 year was awarded to BTL Industries Bulgaria for a EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv, which resulted in the creation of over 700 jobs.
BTL Industries, which has been operational in Bulgaria since 1998, was honored for its long-term development, solidifying its role as a global production base exporting medical devices to over 120 countries. The scope of recognition spanned multiple industries, including awards for Intuitive Surgical’s greenfield project in Parvomay, Aero Technic BG’s aviation expansion, Nestlé Bulgaria’s growth in the capital, and Festo Bulgaria’s industrial investments. Special categories acknowledged contributions toward sustainability, start-ups, and regional development.
Furthermore, the IBA reported that foreign direct investment in the first two months of 2026 surpassed EUR 800 million, nearly doubling the figure recorded in the same period the previous year. Agency leadership attributed this sustained growth to Bulgaria’s macroeconomic stability, competitive tax framework, and developing human capital. Officials emphasized that future investment efforts will prioritize manufacturing, ICT, research and development, and education, focusing on projects that generate high added value and innovation.
