During the talks, participants discussed key lessons drawn from the April Uprising, notably the consensus that achieving major goals requires careful planning through difficult stages. Valchev noted that the historical narrative suggests that what appeared to be failure ultimately led to Bulgaria’s success. He drew parallels between this historical outcome and religious concepts of salvation.
Furthermore, the discussions reviewed leadership principles, citing excerpts from Zahari Stoyanov’s Notes on the Bulgarian Uprisings. According to Valchev, effective leadership requires activity, an avoidance of personal gain, and the ability to guide followers away from despair. The scope of the commemoration was extensive, involving tributes at historical sites and the presentation of specialized publications by BTA.
Looking ahead, Valchev announced that the 2026 Meeting of Bulgarian Media, organized by BTA, will focus on the intersection of “Media and Leaders.” These multifaceted talks underscore the enduring relevance of the 1876 April Uprising in contemporary Bulgarian discourse.
