The 52nd National Assembly has established its six parliamentary groups following the announcement of their respective leaders by Parliament Chair Mihaela Dotsova during the inaugural session on Thursday. The composition of the groups was detailed as follows: Progressive Bulgaria has Petar Vitanov as its floor leader, supported by Deputy floor leaders Galin Durev, Vladimir Nikolov, Slavi Vassilev, and Olga Borisova. GERB-UDF is headed by Boyko Borissov, with Denitsa Sacheva, Kostadin Angelov, and Roumen Hristov serving as Deputy floor leaders.
Movement for Rights and Freedoms lists Delyan Peevski as its floor leader, accompanied by Ayten Sabri, Halil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, and Iskra Mihaylova-Koparova among its deputies. Democratic Bulgaria’s leader is Nadejda Iordanova, supported by Bozhidar Bozhanov and Katya Paneva as Deputy floor leaders. Continue the Change (CC) has Nikolay Denkov as its floor leader, with Ivaylo Shotev and Tatyana Sultanova-Siveva as Deputy floor leaders.
Finally, Vazrazhdane has Kostadin Kostadinov as its floor leader, and Peter Petrov as its Deputy floor leader. Notably, Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria, which contested the recent elections as a coalition, announced their decision on Wednesday to form two separate parliamentary groups. Democratic Bulgaria characterized this split as a “serious political mistake.” In response, Continue the Change proposed that the two parties sign an agreement to form a joint parliamentary alliance under the banner of “Strong Bulgaria in a Strong Europe.”
