Producer Price Growth in Bulgaria Slows to 8.1% Year-on-Year in March

Industrial producer price growth in Bulgaria slowed to 8.1% year-on-year in March, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While the overall Producer Price Index (PPI) recorded a 0.8% decrease in March 2026 compared to the preceding month, it maintained an 8.1% increase relative to the same period last year. Analyzing the components of the index, the NSI noted that lower prices were observed in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas, which fell by 7.7% compared to February.

Conversely, increases were reported in the mining sector, which rose by 3.3%, and in manufacturing, which increased by 2.2% month-over-month. When comparing March to the previous year, the upward trend was evident across key sectors. Year-on-year, price growth was registered in the mining industry, climbing by 40.4%.

Manufacturing prices increased by 4.9%, and the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas saw an annual rise of 0.8%. The beginning of the year showed significant price inflation, with industrial producer prices increasing by 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year. In contrast, February reported a deceleration in price increases, registering only a 0.1% rise month-on-month and 8.4% year-on-year.
