Producer Price Growth in Bulgaria Slows to 8.1% Year-on-Year in March

Industrial producer price growth in Bulgaria slowed to 8.1% year-on-year during March, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While the overall Producer Price Index registered a month-on-month decrease of 0.8% in March 2026 compared to the preceding month, it remained elevated, showing an increase of 8.1% relative to March 2025 levels. Analyzing the sector details for March, the NSI reported contrasting movements.

Prices for the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas declined by 7.7% compared to February. Conversely, the mining industry experienced a rise of 3.3%, and the manufacturing sector saw an increase of 2.2%. On an annual comparison basis for March, price growth was noted across several key areas.

The mining industry recorded a significant annual increase of 40.4%, manufacturing grew by 4.9%, and the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas rose by 0.8%. The data provides context regarding recent trends. At the beginning of the year, industrial producer prices had climbed 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year.

This upward momentum moderated in February, where the monthly increase slowed to 0.1% and the annual growth stood at 8.4%. These figures detail the fluctuations within the Bulgarian producer price index across the past several months.
