Therapies, Hammam Rituals Draw Interest at Astor Garden, Aqua House Thermal & Beach near Varna

Eastern therapies and hammam rituals are drawing significant guest interest at the Astor Garden Hotel in Sts Constantine and Helena, according to SPA Manager Nikolay Popov. Popov noted that the hotel is connected to the Aqua House Thermal & Beach complex, which regularly updates its offerings to enhance the visitor experience. He stated that modern guests seek diverse and novel sensations, a trend that hospitality providers are actively addressing.

The complex aims to support comprehensive physical and mental well-being. Beyond the specialized treatments, guests have access to various pools, including facilities for lap swimming, and can utilize tailored packages alongside a range of beauty services. However, Popov cautioned that massage programs must be administered with care following cosmetic or invasive procedures, as high humidity and steam, typical of hammam rituals, should be avoided.

While certain Chinese medicine approaches may remain suitable, traditional massages require consideration. Aromatherapy remains a popular choice due to its rapid physiological effects, often integrated with other treatments. Additionally, mud therapy is available, and management is evaluating the introduction of algae-based treatments given the natural availability of seaweed and its documented health benefits.

Separately, BTA reports on the broader Bulgarian wellness sector through its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam” feature, covering over 200 certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centers. BTA is serving as the main media partner for this summit.
