Therapies, Hammam Rituals Draw Interest at Astor Garden, Aqua House Thermal & Beach near Varna

Eastern wellness practices and traditional hammam rituals are generating significant interest among guests at the Astor Garden Hotel, according to SPA Manager Nikolay Popov, speaking to BTA in the Sts. Constantine and Helena resort near Varna. Popov noted that the hotel is connected to the Aqua House Thermal & Beach complex, which annually updates its services to enhance the visitor experience.

As modern guests seek variety, the facility aims to meet these evolving expectations by offering opportunities to improve both mental and physical well-being. The complex provides guests with access to various pools, including those designated for lap swimming, and offers tailored packages alongside a range of beauty therapies. Popov advised caution regarding certain treatments for clients who have undergone cosmetic or invasive procedures, recommending that high humidity and steam, such as those found in the hammam, should be avoided in such cases.

While traditional massages require similar considerations, some Chinese medicine approaches may remain suitable. Aromatherapy is popular due to its immediate effects, and guests can also benefit from mud therapy. Management is reportedly considering introducing algae-based treatments due to the natural availability and recognized health benefits of seaweed.

BTA is currently featuring news from over 200 certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centers across Bulgaria in its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water” feature. This initiative, a collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, is tied to Europe’s major health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, scheduled for May 11 to 13, 2026, in Varna, Sts. Constantine and Helena, Golden Sands, and Albena.

BTA will serve as the event’s primary media partner.
