A ceremonial academic session commemorating the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising of 1876 is scheduled to take place in Sofia on Monday. The commemorative events will commence at 11 am with a ceremony at the National Defence College, followed by the official opening of the academic session at 1 pm in the Rectorate of Sofia University.
Historians are expected to participate in discussions organized across two panels focusing on the landmark anniversary. Additionally, a poster exhibition dedicated to the April Uprising will open at 1:45 pm in the foyer on the second floor of the Sofia University Rectorate, curated by Asst. Prof.
Vladimir Terziev. The joint commemoration will conclude at 5 pm with the unveiling of the exhibition titled “For the Freedom of a Nation” at the National Library. This exhibition is a joint effort between the National Library and the State Archives Agency, providing multiple avenues for public engagement regarding the history of the uprising in Sofia.
