Welcomes Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit

Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, which commenced on Tuesday. The event includes a Bulgarian delegation, led by Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Croatia, Iva Kruleva, alongside representatives from Bulgarian small and medium-sized enterprises and companies. Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic confirmed the city’s readiness for the summit, noting that special traffic regulations have been implemented.

With the tourist season underway, Dubrovnik Airport anticipates a high volume of visitors, in addition to numerous aircraft transporting summit attendees. Police are managing traffic flow for arriving delegations and have advised residents to exercise patience regarding potential congestion. The arrival of numerous high-ranking officials is also expected to draw significant international media coverage.

The 3SI serves as a framework for political and economic cooperation among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas. These nations include Bulgaria, Croatia, and others. Strategic partners involve Germany, the European Commission, the United States, and Japan.

The initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure, having been launched in 2016. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator for the 3SI, highlighted that the summit intends to bolster North-South connectivity, an area she noted had been underserved compared to East-West links. She stated that the event is attracting global participation, with companies from 45 countries expected, making it more than a purely regional affair.

The summit is attended by heads of state and government from several nations, including Austria, Greece, and Ukraine, underscoring the broad scope of the gathering.
